Vardaga and Skanska to build new nursing home for elderly in Kviberg, Gothenburg

It is now confirmed that Vardaga will open yet another nursing home for elderly in own management in the Gothenburg area. Villa Kviberg will comprise 77 apartments and will be located next to the river Säveån. The home is also in close proximity to museums, parks and good transportation, within 10 minutes from central Gothenburg.

The building will be constructed by Skanska. The construction has a high level of ambition and the intention is to build a climate-friendly nursing home for elderly, including solar cells on both the roof and the facade.

Villa Kviberg will be furnished according to Vardaga’s award-winning residential concept. The interiors will combine function with Nordic design to create a warm, homely and functional living environment. The colours and fixtures are adapted for the ageing eye – based on research and evidence-based practice – and designed to facilitate wayfinding for people with dementia.

When Villa Kviberg is completed in 2021, it will be Vardaga’s fourth home in own management in the Gothenburg area. In addition to Agaten – an existing home in central Gothenburg – two additional homes are currently under construction: Villa Ekeberg in Angered and Villa Hovås in Hovås. Both of these are expected to be completed in 2019.

”We know we are appreciated here in Gothenburg. Therefore, we’re really happy to be able to welcome even more elderly into yet another modern and well-planned nursing home in own management”, says Ulla Tansen, Head of Division Vardaga.

“We’re looking forward to once again build a new nursing home for elderly together with Vardaga, who are already tenants in two of our ongoing nursing home projects in Gothenburg. There is a demand for nursing homes for elderly in Gothenburg, and Skanska are happy to be able to contribute with a new home in this great location together with a solid operator like Vardaga”, says Charlotte Adlerton Gadd, Business Developer at Skanska Sverige AB.

”Gothenburg has a great need for more nursing homes for elderly, which makes this is a very welcome project. Gothenburg gets an opportunity to build a modern and climate-friendly home that attracts both the elderly and the staff, which is just what the city needs”, says Axel Josefson, Chair of the Executive Committee in Gothenburg.
